Blockchain · Service Centralized exchange (CEX) development

CEX development: a matching engine, hot and cold wallets, deposits and withdrawals, KYC and AML, proof of reserves and admin tools, reviewed before launch.

In short

A centralized exchange (CEX) is a crypto trading platform run by a company: users deposit funds, the exchange holds them in its own wallets, and a matching engine on the exchange's servers pairs buy and sell orders. It feels like a stock-trading app and supports fiat deposits, but it makes the operator the custodian of user money — so wallet security, compliance and withdrawal controls are the core of the build.

When you need it

Signs this is the right service

  • You are launching a regulated exchange or brokerage for retail or institutional users.
  • You need fiat deposits and withdrawals alongside crypto trading.
  • A white-label exchange cannot meet your licence, markets or custody requirements.
  • An existing exchange needs a faster matching engine or stronger withdrawal controls.
What's included

What you get

Matching engine

Price-time priority order books with market, limit and stop orders, built and load-tested for your peak volume.

Wallet infrastructure

Deposit addresses per user, chain listeners with confirmation rules, and hot, warm and cold wallets with most funds offline.

Withdrawal controls

Limits, address allow-lists, delays for new addresses and multi-person approval above set amounts.

Compliance

KYC and AML provider integration, transaction monitoring, Travel Rule data exchange and regulator reports. In India, exchanges register with FIU-IND under the PMLA.

Proof of reserves and admin

Merkle-tree proof-of-reserves so users can verify balances, plus back-office tools for support, risk and finance.

How we deliver it

The process

  1. 01

    Licence and custody first

Your jurisdiction and licence decide KYC, reporting and custody, so we start there with your legal team.

  2. 02

    Architecture and threat model

Matching, wallets, ledger and compliance designed together, with every way money can leave written down.

  3. 03

    Build and load-test

The ledger is double-entry from day one; the matching engine is tested at several times expected peak.

  4. 04

    Staged launch

Invite-only users and low withdrawal caps first, raised as monitoring proves the system.

Questions

CEX development: common questions

How is a CEX different from a DEX?

A CEX holds user funds and matches orders on its own servers; a DEX settles trades through smart contracts while users keep their own keys. A CEX offers fiat access and a familiar experience; a DEX avoids custody but depends on on-chain liquidity.

How are user funds kept safe?

Most funds sit in cold storage, withdrawals pass through limits and multi-person approval, hot wallets hold only what daily withdrawals need, and every wallet is monitored. Proof of reserves lets users check that balances are backed.

What does a CEX need to comply with in India?

Crypto exchanges serving Indian users must register with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and meet its KYC, record-keeping and reporting duties. Your legal advisers confirm the full obligations; we build the systems that meet them.

Can you add a CEX to an existing app?

Yes — as a trading feature inside your product, or as a separate exchange sharing your user accounts and KYC.
